Worth repeating here...thank you! I am so happy to have this back. No workaround or substitute is as nice as VDGS!
Woo-hoo! It's working again. Thank you Simon!
I realize this is an old thread, but I'm having exactly the same issue. I've got one Windows 11 machine where it is working perfectly; that was a a new install of Windows 11. On my laptop which was a Windows 10 -> Windows 11 upgrade, nothing happens. I briefly get the busy hourglass as it launches, but then nothing. Task Manager doesn't show it running. I tried downloading a fresh copy, unblocking, then extracting, but nada. I found some instructions on doing process audits (https://superuser.com/questions/603226/does-windows-log-programs-that-have-been-run-called),...
VDGS won't open, even unblocked, on Windows 11
The icon is a 3x3 grid, but my desktop is 3x4 (rows x columns). This leads to some interesting visual miscues on where I am. Would it be possible to generate an icon that matches the grid configuration?
So, yes, this is kind of a dead thread, but... Is there any hope of getting JPEG2000 back into Mapper? The USGS 1m image files are really only usable/viewable with the JPEG2000 files. With those, I've been able to map out small structures that are only 2-4 meters on a side (like lean-tos and tent platforms in a campground) which is very useful for detail maps.
To address the original question about contours, you're going to need to make two sets of contours one with the small interval, one with the large. Import them on different layers. Then you can select everything in the layer and assign the appropriate symbol. -- Sent from my Android device with K-9 Mail. Please excuse my brevity.
I have a map where the region of interest fits nicely on letter paper...if I were to rotate the whole map about 15-degrees counter clockwise. That seems easy enough, but I noticed that if I do this, my grid, which is configured to show magnetic north, doesn't move. It seems stuck on vertical/horizontal lines. I wanted to print the map with grid lines which I thought would make my life easier while walking the terrain to do adjustments. But I'd really like though grid lines to match my compass. I...
I've not been using Mapper in quite a while, but I actually thought this was working. However, my old maps can't open the JPEG 2k images that are in the templates. I've tried both version 0.6.8 and the latest unstable. I do see, under plugins/imageformats, a qjp2.dll but I'm not really sure that's a jpeg 2k plugin. I was probably last editing the maps under Fedora with the unstable version there, but I really don't remember; the maps are about 2 years old. roland
