Thanks, that proxy trick worked. I tried this proxy myself also at the beginning but I didnt know I had to close DxWnd app. Now it's working every time. About antivirus - I don't have anything - it's default win xp installation as it is. Since it's VM I don't care that much to install AV - I just delete VM and clone fresh one if it gets hit. I made interesting discovery. I took new VM that never had GTA 1 before. Installed GTA 1 and it worked. Good. After some time it stopped working again. I tried reinstalling and restarting VM but I never got it work again. I zipped logs of both working and non-working cases. Maybe they give you some hints? What command did you use for CRC? Will try that same command then. Btw off topic question but how do you play GTA 1 on your computer? Do you still own a physical CD or do you use some emulation?...

Ok it seems like it's not universal problem. I tried Age of Empires 1 and Diablo 1. Both run in windowed mode. Both Virtual Box and host machine.

Changing monitor from ".def" to "1" or "2" did not help. I did also try to run this in my Win XP SP2 virtual machine It didn't seem to work there either. Has anyone ever tried it in Virtual Box? To me it does not matter much if it runs windowed on host machine or virtual machine, I just want to have it windowed so that I can use Cheat Engine debug breakpoints in this game. Thanks for the hints! No I dont see DxWnd logo at startup with windows 10 computer. I attached log to this reply. Yes I removed all dgvoodoo stuff. And I also tried running DxWnd as admin.

Yes, I also hook GRAND THEFT AUTO.EXE. Do you run it on Win 10? Btw is there any way to verify that injection is working? For example dgVoodoo displays it's logo as a watermark so I can visually confirm that something was injected but how to tell with DxWnd if injection worked?

Tnx, I removed compatibility mode. I main tab I also checked force windowing. In Hook tab I checked Hook enabled and Injection set to Inject DLL. But still runs full screen. Btw do you have a personal experience with GTA 1 or is this just general info? Also not sure if it matters but I have version of GTA 1 that came with CD when I was young. Does DxWnd work with that old version or does it require some steam version of the game?

Has anyone ever tried it with GTA 1 (1997)? To me it doesnt matter what settings I use it still uses fullscreen on both Win XP SP2 and on Win 10 wunning with Win XP SP3 compatibility mode. I currently tried with DxWnd 2.05.93. If anyone ever had success with GTA 1 would you like to share exact steps starting from unpacking DxWnd to get it working in windowed mode? Thanks in advance.

Hi! I have an issue that if I run game in full screen mode, the screen goes black and then after second or so it minimizes the window. And it I switch back to it then it happens again. So, I can only run this game in windowed mode but I want full screen because window compresses the game graphics. What I mean by that is that 1920x1080 gets scaled to 1920x1010 or something because title bar and taskbar both take their space.
