If the subject line isn't cryptic enough... I program a radio station, less so computers, so please use BIG crayons when you explain things to me. Treat me like somebody's dumb brother-in-law, if you would. Situation: Program supplier changed distribution method of weekly radio show elements from website downloads to a Dropbox download of a zipped archive. The actual show file elements have the same names every week (e.g., segment 1.mp3, segment 2.mp3) which makes programming the automation a snap....

For our community radio station, every week I have to download dozens of .MP3 and .MP2 files from various show syndicators. Some come via email links, Dropbox, etc., but many are retrieved by going to a website and either downloading from links on the homepage or by "drilling down" to links in specific dated folders. Needless to say, this is a tedious process, so I am looking to schedule/automate things as much as possible. I've tried wget and IDM (and even XDM once before). I'm not necessarily looking...

I think we ARE dealing with a jack vs. pulseaudio issue. Still not getting things to work, but I'll keep at it.

Daniel, Thanks for the reply and forgive me for the delayed response. I've copied the error message; I've deleted the copyright info and other extraneous info. I have an older Compaq dx2200-MT with a Intel socket 775 Pentium which runs IDJC reasonably well, and homebrew PC with a Biostar A68N-5000 mobo and an AMD A4-5000 that simply will not launch the program. The Compaq only has 1 MB of RAM so, things run a bit sketchy; the Biostar PC has 8MB of RAM. Both are running 18.04 LTS. My Linux skills are minimal, but I sure would like to get IDJC on the AMD box. Thoughts?
