Good day to you Lyndon :) I don't know why I didn't see your previous message. Otherwise I should have replied sooner. I'm so glad you are enjoying Peppermint Devuan. It's an "ansome" (as we say in Cornwall) little gem. Yes, I agree about the installer thing, but I think that's a Debian problem not a peppermint one. It has always been a little glitchy. The fact you have installed Peppermint on your Sons computer means you are becoming a real peppermint family :) I hope he is enjoying it too. I can't...

Hi Lyndon I'm so glad you love Peppermint, It will certainly be worth giving Classic a try. I used Arco for a few years in the past, it was a great learning tool. Erik is a good teacher. Canada is such a beautiful country, mind you New Zealand isn't so bad either! I tend to use Beaver in my name, so it made me happy to see someone using a moose :) Kindest regards, Adam

**To install Nvidia drivers on Devuan: ** I found this tutorial on the devuan website. sudo apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential libglvnd-dev pkg-config dkms -y Second step blacklist the nouveau driver, create a blacklist file: sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau.conf In the file add the following and save the file: blacklist nouveau options nouveau modeset=0 Then regenerate the kernel initramfs: sudo update-initramfs -u Third step install the latests NvidiaGraphicsDrivers:...

Hi Jon You should have a “Fix Broken Packages” option in the synaptic menu. You can now update and install packages just like normal. Alternatively: sudo dpkg –configure -a this command looks for any broken dependencies on your system caused by packages that aren’t installed. This tool should automatically install any package that it feels you’re missing. sudo apt-get install -f At this point, you can run sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get update followed by sudo apt-get upgrade to update every package...

So glad you found a solution. :) We were all new to Linux once, but through reading and us all having a chat, we can usually sort most problems out.

Hi Ian, thanks for you question and for loving Peppermint so much. I don't know how to answer your question, since the mini ISO is not my area of expertise. I'm sure one of the other fellows will be able to answer your questions. I'll pass your question on to one who would know and get back to you. Thanks for your loyalty to peppermint. You are much valued. Kindest regards, Adam

Oh I am sorry to hear you have been having a few troubles. You should be able to install almost any file manager you wish. Shouldn't cause any problems. Did you update? What hardware are you using? Peppermint usually finds most drivers one needs. Keep pepperminting. I really like your avatar too :) Regards, Adam

Hi Dr_Pompeii, I hope you are well. I found this answer on one of the other forums. "This has been answered several times: no. The notice is benign, is not the cause of a hangup, All it is is a mismatch between the bios and the kernel where the bios does not live up to its specifications. By the way: we all get these since as of kernel 5.19 the kernel devs decided to show these (before that they got suppressed)" I didn't like the tone of the answer, but I hope it answers your question. Fortunately,...

Wow what a beautiful config/rice. That's a lovely theme you are using, You are tempting me to try out fluxbox again :)

I was just wondering what desktop environment you are currently using? Do you use the default Peppermint Desktop? What themes do you like the best? I tend to use XFCE and Cinnamon. With the traditional Peppermint branding and themes. I just thought it would be an interesting topic.

I always like Fluxbox, I like its simplicity. But I always tend to go back to regular desktop environments. Do you have a screen shot? I know Razor is using Openbox, that's a good one too.

Those sound like really great ideas! I like the fact that the word peppermint has been played with, so now you have the two brands, Peppermint (the plant) and Peppermint the sweet. It's like saying; The peppermint (sweet version) is beginner/traditional and the peppermint plant, leafs you to do your own thing (gardening) I think the script idea is great for experienced pepperminter's, but perhaps a little too advanced for the beginner? I think you are right though, it all comes down to whether the...

I have just downloaded the Cinnamon iso, I will give it a test in Vbox. I'm really loving the new peppermint. It gives one a blank canvas to add what one wants. though I do miss the old peppermint branding and the sweet. lol. If I can help in anyway, let me know. I was thinking perhaps a cinnamon version of peppermint with a (few) more apps might be useful for beginners?
