Many thanks for your quick reply. I had assumed from the initial log entry that the progam did just the one lookup when starting. You have clearly done your homework. Initial tests are promising indeed.

    Question about functionality

  • Peter Jay Peter Jay modified a comment on a wiki page

Used the program to rename a Windows 10 Pro boot/OS partition with corrupted name. A cloud backup program (N-Able) was throwing errors. Tech Support said that this was the probable cause of the errors. Used GPT fdisk to rename the partition, rebooted without incident, and the N-Able backup then worked without error. Note: partition name is different than the partition/volume label in Disk Manager.

Will be using the program to rename a Windows 10 Pro boot/OS partition with corrupted name. A cloud backup program (N-Able) was throwing errors. Tech Support said that this was the probable cause of the errors. A test system booted without error after renaming its boot partition. N-Able still not tested, as this procedure was done on a test computer. Waiting to be on-site to rename the partition on production PC. But the point of this post is: GPT fdisk did what I wanted, seemingly without ill-effect....

Excellent program. When prompted for filename, entering "0:" for a Windows boot drive (without the quotes) did the trick. This worked on more than one Windows computer.
