Please have a look at the image attached that I received from a student using 19.05.7 on MS Windows. I can't reproduce this in my system (Ubuntu 16.04 + nightly builds). It has been an issue that has been reported to me by 4 students so far since September last year. Peter
Hello. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 with the Nightly Builds. I noticed this problem at the beginning of November and posted about it on the 6th but with all the crashes etc it wasn't that big an issue. You can save a file within the first few minutes but later (I'm not exactly sure when but less than 10 minutes) wxMaxima does not ask if you want to save the file and just quits.
Heartfelt thanks. Please accept my best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
Latest nightly build on Ubuntu 16:04. (same behaviour for at least a week) Using Algebra>Enter Matrix. Example: A request for 2 rows, 3 columns gives 3 rows and 2 columns Peter
I'm not sure what you mean but a left click on a cell address, for instance on %o3, freezes the mouse. Alt+Esc allows typing in the terminal but nothing else (found by accident). Thanks again. All the best, Peter
I managed to wrest back partial control - please see attached photos of backtrace. Peter
Sadly, as this computer freezes I can't get that far. I have to resort to ALt PrScr REISUB. I am willing to try anything else that might help. Kind regards and thanks for all your work, Peter
Ubuntu 18.04 with latest nightly build. Computer freezes immediately after first input (in this case input 3x^2 then Calculus>differentiate). Photo attached of terminal output.
New issue? If I quit the program after a few minutes I am asked if I wish to save my changes (as has been normal behaviour for years). If I quit later then the program closes with no message and I assume the changes are lost. (This was normal behaviour many years ago). See previous messages regarding OS etc..
Thank you. I have updated the software on both machines and have not experienced any more crashes.
Here is the output with wxmaxima-dbgsym installed. BTW I am seeing the same behaviour on another machine running on Ubuntu 18.04 with nightly builds peter@peter-helix:~$ gdb wxmaxima GNU gdb (Ubuntu 7.11.1-0ubuntu1~16.5) 7.11.1 Copyright (C) 2016 Free Software Foundation, Inc. Of course, but I might need a step by step guide to install unless it is a simple deb file. I have installed wxmaxima-dbgsym. Is this the same thing?
I should have said (in desperation) I removed and installed Maxima and wxMaxima but the behaviour did not change.
Here you go - I hope it helps peter@peter-helix:~$ gdb wxmaxima GNU gdb (Ubuntu 7.11.1-0ubuntu1~16.5) 7.11.1 Copyright (C) 2016 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
