Hi Davis. Sure thing. I can send you the case via an FTP (company policies). Could you provide me an email address ? Thank you in advance, Octavio Ramos

Thank you Davis. Indeed this would have been a simple solution. However, the model is not converging for irradiance values lower than 0.001.

Hi Davis, Thank you very much for your help. I was first thinking that the not convergence issue was due to the large PV production I am introducing in the model. However, I ran my case hour by hour and noticed that the model does not converge for irradiance multiplayers lower than 0.001 (which is strange as the case without PVs converges). Thus, by modifying my irradiance profile 0.0 values to 0.001, I was able to run the whole day simulation. However, having PV production at midnight is not realistic....

Hi Davis, thank you very much for the prompt reply. The loadshape has been defined first. I have added the KVA property. But the issue is not resolved. Any other ideas ? Best regards, Octavio

Dear support team, I am currently working with loadshapes, everything looks good when I only have loads in the network. But when I introduce PV generators the obtained results are completly wrong. For instance, total active power will vary with time, as expected, in the no PV case. When PVs are introduced the total active power will be reported as constant 0, which makes no sense. I am introducing PV generation for all my loads using the following decription: New PVSystem.A phases=1 bus1=A.2 kv=14.4...

Dear support team, I would like to perform a network reduction using OpenDss. I know this is possible through the use of meters and the reduce command. However, I do not know how to implement these. Could you please provide an example ? Thank you for your help, Octavio Ramos

Hi Davis. Thank you for the quick reply. Sure thing, reading other posts about the issue I figured out that the problem concernes the naming of buses. OpenDss expects a number as soon a dot appears on a bus declaration, for example bus1=ABCD.1 . My problem was that one of the buses was named bus1=ABCD.A.1 . What trowh me off in finding the issue, was that openDss reported a lower case a. Thus, I was looking for that specifically with no succes. When in reality the issues was with an upper case A....

Dear support team, I am experiencing the following error message with OpenDss and I do not have any idea of what and where the error may be. Node Buffer Too Small: Integer number conversion error for string: "a" Could you please help me identify the source of error ? Thank you very much, Octavio Ramos

Hello Davis, Thank you very much for the prompt reply. I have not being able to reproduce the reported behaviour, snapshot works as expected in both cases now. But I will keep your recommendation in mind. Best regards, Octavio Ramos

Hello dear support team. I am currently working with load shapes in OpenDss. I have created two load files, one where there is no load shape (daily) definition and one where there is. When I run in snapshot mode the case without load shape definition, I get one answer and when I run the case with load shape definition I get a very different answer. My question is. Why I see different results, although I am runing both cases in snapshot mode ? My understanding is that snapshot should disregard the...

Dear support team, I am facing the following problem. When I connect a large capacitor bank to my system, all loads will demand more power than the one assigned to them. for example, the load New Load.SW phases=1 bus=SW.3 kV=14.43 PF=0.9891 KVA=127.89 model=1 numcust=17.0 Goes from demanding 126.5 kw and 18.9 kvar (as expected) before connecting the capacitor, to consuming 141.5 kw and 21 kvar after connecting the capacitor. My understanding is that this should not happen as the model is constant...

Hello Celso. I have finally found the source of the problem. in Cyme there is a hidden ZigZag grounding transformer on the delta side. I was able to replicate Cyme results by introducing a Yg-D grounding transfomer in OpenDss. Best regards, Octavio

Thank you Celso. I will take a look into this. By the way, thank you very much for the youtube videos, they are very helpful.

Hi Celso, Thank you very much for your kind and prompt reply. I think I understand your explanation. But just to make sure, I would like to elaborate a little further. In the attached figure 2, you will see my system configuration and phase connections as per my OpenDss understanding. My previous understanding was that all nodes have phases 1.2.3.0 not matter what, and in that sense my system should not be floating as I have a ground return to the source (see figure 2) (This is the observed behaviour...

Hello. I am modelling a very simple circuit to test a converter from Cyme to OpenDss, see figure 1. However, I do not understand the behaviour I am seeing from OpenDss. When the load is 3 phases the results are OK, I see 100 kW/ph as expected. However, if the load is single phase OpenDss returns zero. I am using OpenDss 9.2 64 bit. The code is as follows: %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Clear New Circuit.PBR-S1 bus1=PBR basekv=120.0 angle=0.0 baseMVA=100.0 pu=0.5773502666666667 z0=[1.98,7.4779]...
