Rafael. The issue went in the same way it arrived, mysteriously and unexpectedly, in fact It's only now that you have sent this that I have been reminded and have looked again at the issue. I am still using V1.13, but the behaviour seems to have stopped. File -> Close does what it should, as does File -> Exit. I haven't updated to ver1.15 yet, but I may do so shortly. Further. I have just discovered that if I choose Exit when the timeout occurs rather than put in the password, the program does actually Exit. I'm wondering if I choose File > lock then Re-open the program, choosing Exit from the Password entry modal box whether that will 'solve' this issue for me.
