I am using NCO 4.6.3 on Linux.

I just tried to use ncecat with the --gag option for the first time, so that the output file will be organized into groups according to the names of the input files. I am wondering why my output file is so large. It is 6.1 MB while the input was 8 files of 44 KB each. When I use ncecat without --gag, the output is 320 KB as I would expect. I did try using the -M switch to avoid writing redundant metadata, but that only slightly reduced the output size to 5.9 MB. So what could be taking up all the...
