I used DBAN to wipe the drive of a computer donatied to a non profit. The donor wants a report showing the drive was wiped. So after the wipe, I used the DBAN option to output the report to the USB stick. But when I check the USB stick on another computer (PC or MAC) it is now unformatted. So I created another USB boot stick with DBAN. Confirmed it can be read on PC & MAC and then wiped the target machine again, and output the report to the USB stick.
