dont know exactly why old rssowl cannot, but it works with current rssowlnix. rssowlnix is my fork of rssowl: https://github.com/Xyrio/RSSOwlnix/releases

i asume you are using rssowlnix? either way changing size of the media thumbnails is currently not possible. except if you edit the rss before feeding it to rssowlnix (resize image...) or change source code and build your own fork.
