Thanks Daniel, are there any tutorials for using BUTT from pi at all? As you say, the hifiberry is seen as an audio device so this is sounding promising :-) Thanks so much for your help!

I have a Raspberry pi3 with the latest software along with a hifiberry DAC+ ADC. I want to stream audio from the headless pi, and wonder if this software will be suitable for streaming to Icecast for instance. The stream will be for private use to monitor the sound of a location. I am completely new to Linux, and finding different solutions to the problem a little overwhelming at the moment, so would really appreciate some input... Thanks, :-)
