Presumably you've received the 8051-compatible MCU. Download the CD from this project. Use this example: Part 3 x51 Source Code/1. LED's/1. LED Blinking/C Version. Then follow this Tutorial: Part 1 Tutorials/51 Firmware Download Instructions.pdf to flash it to the MCU. THis is a good starting point. For real programming you have to carefully check each example. This requires the Visual C redistributables to be installed, but I am not not sure which version. This is a software piece that came in Chinese and I made a translation directly in the binary file, which, for obvious reasons, is very limited. I recommend to use the "stc-isp-15xx-v6.86E.exe" instead.

Yeah, one of my target was a direct replacement of the "original" chinese DVD. I am dropping some contents that are easily found online, like the datasheets, and replace by links to reduce the contents. The first releases removed the illegal contents that came with the "original" piece, and replace by open alternatives.

No, not to my knowledge. Seems that no part uses VCC/GND, at the same pins as a 8051. A daughterboard would be required, as for the STM32 part.
