sounds good, if its meant to be "this value should be replaced" then it should check that and maybe tell the user what to do or link to some documentation page describing it

thanks for the response :) as I mentioned, i have a workaround by manually adding tokens, but that seems fraught with danger, as _yaml_get_pre_comment for example seems to erase the comment every time you call it, so I'll leave my hack in there for now until a proper fix is released. honestly, the only reason this IS a problem is that the cloud-init project is using pyyaml which doesn't support comments, so it can't just get the top level comment entity and then see if it equals cloud-config, I'm...
