Thanks, that worked nicely. I stopped Task Coach, removed all entrries for old files from file.recentfiles in %appdata%\Task Coach\TaskCoach.ini, and restarted Task Coach without a problem. The list of recent files in the File menu has changed. But: The files still show up in File -> Manage Backups... Even those for which there is no backup.
