Does zbarimg emit UTF-8? According to the German Wikipedia, UTF-8 does not require a Byte Order Mark (BOM) in UTF-8 encoded files. According to Wikipedia, a BOM causes trouble with several text editors. However, if zbarimg writes its output tin the standard output device, why should it add a BOM? Is your bug the same one as #73, the unability to correctly emit some accented characters and Umlaute and German character ß?

Today, in version 0.23, ten years later than the last discussion, the bug is still present as experienced on Xubuntu 20.04.2: The letter "ß" appearing in my name is output as a Chinese character テ歹. zbarimg should output as utf-8 by default - or at least should have an option to do so.

Laurent, Thank you for the explaining link. A live stick with everything on it is still something highly desirable. It is so valuable if it can be run on any computer (with the right CPU architecture and sufficient memory) regardless of the installed operating system. The only necessary condition is to be able to invoke the boot media selection (often F12 or F9 or even some other key on some computers. It won't be applicable on computers which can not be booted from an USB device, e.g. because a...

This topic ist discussed here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/169376/clock-time-is-off-on-dual-boot Linux supposes the RealTimeClock (RTC) to show UTC. If the computer re-synchronizes time with NTP, Linux also adjusts the RTC. Windows however supposes the RTC to show local time. The behaviour can be changed either on the Linux side or on the Windows side. Change on the Linux side is not feasible, since, when you issue the command timedatectl set-local-rtc 1 the RTC may already have be adjusted and...

Hello Laurent, compiling on the persistent stick seems to be not a very good idea. There ist lots of file writing and so on in that. I would prefer to do the compilation of the ./jamulus-OS-v2.02-install.run on a computer booted as normal and transfer the results to the stick after compilation is compleded. Would that be possible? What steps would be necessary to approach it this way? (I tried it the recommended way. Compilation took endless time. According to htop, CPU or memory usage was not an...

Hello Laurent, I appreciate your idea to create a persistent USB stick for Jamulus with minimal size, provided it is possible for the user to add (i.e. sudo apt install ...) other software using the persistent part of that? In the last few days I wasted much time trying to install Chromium on a persistent USB-3 stick: after each attempt, the stick was ruined (i.e. it did not pass file system checks any more. Fortunately I could verify with time sudo badblocks -b 512 -v -w -s -t random -t 0x55 -t...

Laurent, how can you test an image for a Linux stick on Windows? Or do you just want to test the Rufus step making the stick under Windows? Unfortunately, the syslinux.cfg created by Rufus does not have any line splash ... ---persistent. One has to modify these lines to preset the keyboard and language settings. Kind regards Adalbert

Hello Laurent, the new delivery form of JamulusOS is unfortunately much less attractive than before. Now I have to first download an Ubuntustudio from Sourceforge and put it on the stick, make the persistent and then download the main thing. Many tutorials on the net about Jamulus OS have become obsolete by this change. Hopefully people don't throw in the towel now because they follow recipes that don't work anymore! To make a stick with Jamulus OS must become very simple and fool-proof: Whoever...

I have made a persistent Juamulus USB stick (the label its boot partition is "JAMULUSOS V ") and I want to modify it such that it can be used right away by the chorus members without any avoidable question. The participating members have computers with German keyboards and they don't have much background in using computers. I even want use an autostart script to qjackctl, then Jamulus (client) and even want to attach to the right server automatically. Is that possible? I tried some of the steps,...

I took a look into linux/sound.h in the jamulus-latest directory. I recognized, that it includes some other header files and defines the class CSoundBase. Its main content is conditionally compiled under the condition #ifndef JACK_REPLACES_ASIO. Since ASIO is part of a Windows system, I guess this macro should be defined on a Linux machine - right? If WITH_SOUND is defined, linux/sound.h includes some more header files for jack and midiport. Some definitions in linux/sound.h depend on #ifdef WITH_SOUND....

They each have a sub-category "OpenPGP-Sicherheit", but when I click on any of them, "Signatur-/Verschlüsselungsoptionen" comes up with its 3 tabs of which none is the one shown in your picture. How do I get there?

Today I came across a similar situation and then I found out that PasswordSafe had left over a file pwu-pwsafe.plk in the same direcory as the password safe itself. After renaming this file I could start PasswordSafe without a message that it is unable to actually modify the database and therefore opens it only readonly. During the session, a new file pwu-pwsafe.plk was created which vanished after closing PasswordSafe. Therefore this plk file seems pretty much to be the lock file of PasswordSaf...

I just see a typo: "Many entries in the drop down menu The only way I could figure out were greyed out. " It was meant like this: "Many entries in the drop down menu were greyed out. " When does it happen that functions to edit od modify an existing entry are greyed out? I just encounter a similar situation.

I am using PasswordSafe (linux) v1.03BETA-0-g-5221c4) BETA. I came across a situation where I could not enter new passwords to my pw database. Many entries in the drop down menu The only way I could figure out were greyed out. Also at the beginning there was a message that the database was locked. It is fine if there is a locking mechanism. But how do I unlock the database if it is locked? The only way to escape from this situation I found was to store the database as xml file and to re-import it...
