If you have access to macOS, I've found suspiciously named files here: /System/Library/Components/AudioDSP.component/Contents/Resources/Tunings/Generic/IRs BRIR_General.ir HRIR_General.ir Reverb_General.ir Unfortunately I haven't found out what format they are, maybe they're also encrypted.

As I already mentioned - we can't fix them all or expect to be fixed by the parties involved... In the case of the VLC's .apk - you have all the necessary info you need, good luck contacting them, also the .apk(s) are not supposed to be manipulated as a archive, but deCompiled and reCompiled, so their compiler messes them, maybe it's even on purpose, who knows and there's a chance that even if they cared - maybe they don't want to "fix" the issue on their end as it's not an issue for them. Even if they do it, the old ones will still be problematic and this doesn't help much, also for many other files, we can't "fix" them all (being .apk or not) in order to be able to use them with this software. It's basically like if WinRAR suddenly introduces RAR6 and 7-Zip can't handle it for some reason and you don't want or can't support it, then what, we should beg them to not use\ditch it or what, do you see how ridiculous this suggestion is ?, you should adapt 7-Zip, not refuse to, just because...
