If you can use that, fine. But that is now obsolete too, it has been dropped by the developer as of last June: TinkerTool System Release 2 is no longer in development. Licenses are no longer in distribution. They were available between June 26, 2009 and June 26, 2018. The application has been superseded by successor products.
Well, Applejack will not work on Mojave. Dont know why Cmd-R is not working for you. But there is the alternate way to get to it. I think Cmd-S still works, but I would have to check. Are any of your keyboard combinations working? Also, are you using the built in display on the Macbook? If you are using an external display, there might be issues wiht what you can see during booting if you are using a VGA display.
You need to tell what level of the OS you are using. But if current, Applejack will no longer work on it, and Applejack is no longer being updated. I don't recall at what OS it ended, maybe as old as OS X 10.6. I don't know why you can't get into Cmd-R, you should be able to. But you alternately can try booting to the boot manager -- hold down the Option key while starting up -- and select the recovery partition to boot, and that will get the same as Cmd-R. I haven't tried Cmd-S in so many years,...
Thanks for that. But gee, are you sure that won't create troble?! Applejack has not been updated to deal with the changes in the OS even for Sierra much less the new file system in High Sierra. It might run, but it might foul things up. I'd hope we could get some input on that concern from someone who really knows.
