This project is not dead - it is being refactored. The initial submission failed flatly, the code not really helpful. So the project stalled and I was probably the only user. I moved into another space for a time working in cancer then genomics. I will now be taking it over completely again and hope to be upgrading and updating this to a more acceptable level with modern libraries and systems in the coming months.
