Rolling further back to version 1.980 and Webmin works just fine. So the errors where introduced after that version. Must admit I still use perl v5.8.5, maybe that's why...
Rolling back from 1.990 to version 1.984 gives this error: "Undefined subroutine &WebminCore::callers_package called at /opt/webmin/web-lib-funcs.pl line 10076." Will go back further...
Done, several times.
After updating from 1.979 to 1.990 I get this error with authentic-theme: "Undefined subroutine &main::init called at /opt/webmin/authentic-theme/authentic-lib.pl line 33." and this error with gray-theme: "Undefined subroutine &WebminCore::init_config called at /opt/webmin/gray-theme/gray-theme-lib.pl line 7. Compilation failed in require at /opt/webmin/gray-theme/index.cgi line 5." on a Solaris server.

Indeed, that would be great, see these examples.

Hi Ilia, as setup.sh is part of the postinstall routine I do not see a (simple) way to test that script standalone. I have the same opion as Jamie: please keep scripts compatible to any Unix/Linux distro by sticking to /bin/sh features.
Solaris 8 7/01, - to be frank ;-)
Solaris: Error "`verleneach=$' unexpected" when executing postinstall script
I had the same issue and followed advice given in https://superuser.com/questions/1516486/windows-10-loadlibrary-failed-with-error-87-on-remote-desktop-session - simply renaming c:\Windows\System32\atig6pxx.dll to atig6pxx.dll.bak did the trick.

See some more test results (can you reproduce it on your solaris box, too?): Output from /bin/true; /bin/true .. No output generated Output from /bin/true; /bin/false .. No output generated Command failed with exit status 65280 Output from /bin/true; date; /bin/false .. Wed Sep 30 09:08:25 MEST 2020 Command failed with exit status -1 Also I would suggest to add three dots at the end of the Output line, as that is more common than only two.
No, that's fine: Output from /bin/true .. No output generated But f.e.: Output from echo ""; echo ""; date; echo ""; /usr/lib/dns/rndc reload; sleep 2; tail -20 /var/adm/messages | grep named; echo ""; date .. Mon Sep 28 09:33:32 MEST 2020 server reload successful Mon Sep 28 09:33:35 MEST 2020 Command failed with exit status -1 This also happens if I put all into a new custom command.
Same here, still an issue in Webmin 1.955 on platform Solaris.
