Okay, my fault. I was indeed too stupid to start the compiled esniper (./esniper) and used the default one instead... mea culpa and THANKS!
I would be happy if this was the case. I encountered the problem with the ubuntu apt-able version of esniper first. Then I pulled the git and compiled the newest version but still the error remains. I tested on two machines with two different eBay accounts. To verify I just created a new auctions file and still the same problem. Did you verify with your installation?
