So I got into the DSD spec and started creating my own grammar in Synalyze It! to help me decode the hex. On the most recent .dsf I posted that has no tags, the file size in the header matches actual file size and everything was where it should be based on the DSD spec sheet. Then I put that same .dsf into Kid3 and tried to add a "title" tag. Kid3 tried to save and returned NO TAG. Then I looked at the metadata in the hex editor it shows the tag but inside the DSD chunk header at the very beginning...

I changed the header size to match but it's still not working. Maybe I didn't change it correctly. So here are the links to the original dff and dsf files with no tags. Please see if when you change the header to match that it fixes the issue because I can't get it to work. https://www.dropbox.com/s/utxjvqf0q0hkx1i/DFF%20-%20KANEDA.dff?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/mo8w4q32i53fdgg/DSF%20-%20KANEDA.dsf?dl=0

So a super forum member on computeraudiophile just confirmed that the two files dff and dsf are exactly the same except that header mismatch. So I'm just going to correct that. But I don't know my way around hex or editing hex so I'm kinda out of luck.

Ok. Do what you need to do to keep Kid3 nice and stable. I'm going to post in computeraudiophile and see if I can get some help on the file itself. I did find a program that supposed to check for errors and repair dsd files but I cannot get it to run on my Wine app since I'm on a mac https://confluence.merging.com/display/PUBLICDOC/Media+Recoverer I'm going to extract the .dff files again and send you a dropbox link original .dff if you want to take a look at where an issue might be between the two...

So I just tried it out and the app does not crash anymore. However, none of the tags appear in the example file I sent you. I opened up the same file in JRiver and the tags are there and formatted the same as all my other dsf files. Just to give you an idea of how I tag... First I run the dsf files through Musicbrainz Picard with the DSD tagging Plugin because I also have the Last.fm plugin to add genre, mood, etc. Then I open them up in Kid3 to correct any mistakes, add other tags, and add album...
