Since the test process worked so successfully I used Google Takeout to extract all my gmails since back to 2005 (about 2.5GB). The mbox merge process has taken 3 days to date and is currently working on "Parsing archive file to create index file". I realise this is a large set of mbox files and it will take time but I don't know the stages of the process and therefore don't know if it is almost finished or got another couple of days to run. Thank you for clarifying the mbox viewer process. I was able to follow your instructions and successfully merged individual .mbox into one large merged file. A search now works across all labels in the merged file. I will check with the User Guide but believe if I wish to add another tranche of .mbox files to the merged file, I follow the same process. I downloaded my gmail files from Takeout into a folder on my network drive then ran the mboxviewer. All files showed up but I have a couple of queries. 1. How do I sort the .mbox folders into alphabetical order? 2. When I search for a specific word, I only get a found result when I select a specific .mbox folder. How do I search for a specific word across all .mbox folders? Happy if you just point me to the section/s in the user guide as I read it last night and couldn't find any solution to my questions....
