I have tested R3383 and it works perfectly for me. The test was ran on an Intel board with an Intel chjp set with the CPU having 12 core and 64 gig of ram on the motherboard. I am running Linux Mint version 21.2, kernel release 5.15.0-78 generic. While none of the specs I included may matter at all, my experience has suggested that they might with very old chipsets on the motherboard when running Linux/Unix

One final note: On my personal copy, I changes the maximum games to default to 100,000. There appears to be no ill effects so far.

I have used the new code this morning. The termination worked smoothly. The hard limit does not impact the most current games used in the theory tables. The 25,000 game limit does seem to initially impact some of the features. By upping the maximum games limit in the options/features window, this constraint is removed. so long as the opening reports stays open. What does this all mean? I have 7 defined opening report favorites I run regularly. My Makogonov KID reports are not impacted either way...

Let me give this a whirl on my own. I have the last 2 code sets on the Linux desktop (R3379 and R 3380) , so I should be able to do code comparisons. On the testing side, I will let you know how it works.

When I chose the option opening reports , I want the option of either, A) generating a report from the current board position, or, B) generating revised reports from my saved opening report favorites. I have 7 of them. I do this after I have added the weekly TWIC file, my games and other local Michigan games of note. Hi All, I have a number of saved reports that I run on a regular basis. I run updates on my saved reports weekly after I update my global database for the rated games I play and after adding the weekly TWIC file from Crowder's site. The opening report feature, when opened ,runs the report from the position on the game display, and only then can I chose to run previously saved reports. I run my saved reports to show the updates to the latest games played and any changes to the theory table. Is there...

I have just installed the May 23rd 2023 addition of Graham O'Neil's* Dgt Linux driver. I have ALL of the functions (playing a computer as well as inputting games into the database ) working perfectly. I am able to input the mountain of games from Michigan quickly (roughly 750 to go) and to use the Toga choices for openings to practice as well as training with Stockfish. I am further finding that the driver does not appear to hang up at all even after extended sessions of input or playing an engine,...

First of all, A big, big, bravo to Graham O' Neil to program and make this interface available. I am using this interface to speed up input of games to my Scid vs PC global database with games from students and tournaments from the local Grand Rapids, Michigan USA games. What a godsend for this project !! Your Linux kernel seems very old. I am at version 107. Here is what I would do. Run Timeshift to get a solid restore point. I always do this before applying any upgrade or update as a safety precaution. Probaly not required, but "safety first" I always say. Step 2: At the terminal run: sudo apt-get update This will update the repositories. Step 3: While still in the terminal application, run: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade This will update the kernel and other files to bring your system up to date. The...

Hi all, I recently updated my Linux OS to Linux Mint 20.3 I have the newest kernel to 5.04.0 99. I have also updated to build 3279.I have noticed a substantial speed in booting and in general menu operation. I am thankful for it. Has anyone else experienced this? Hi All, I experienced erratic behavior in Stockfish 12 64 bit and Komodo 11 64 bit after updating to R3148. The engines in question stopped working shortly after launch.. I updated the Unix kernel to 5..40.53.56 and the behaviour issue of the engines above was resolved. They then ran perfectly. I don't know if anyone has experienced this problem, but simply updating the kernel to the latest build immediately resolved. Maybe I had a problem wile the old build? I don't know if it was a build issue,...

I am sorry for wasting everyone's time. The installation put the books directory in /usr/local/share/scid/books. I slapped the center of my forehead, as I do not log in as a super user to run Scid vs PC, I would have read only rights to the books directory. I gave the only usr on the system (me) r+w rights to the /usr/local/share/scid directory and had the permissions change applied recursively. It worked like a charm. Next time, I will have a nice cigar and a cup of coffee before I post something...

I recently created a new linux box from scratch. I loaded Linux Mint, which I have ran before. Compiling Scid vs pc from source coode was a breeze and it works fine. Due to the speed increases I have experienced, I have decided to move everything to Linux and finally cut the cord to the Windows world. The linux box is running a 2.9 Ghz amd 64 quad core with a 4 tb drive and 8gb of ram . It has a a huge video card that is freon cooled with a 23 inch hi def monitor. Scid vs PC runs fine . I have a student right now that uses a Chrome laptop. As I understand it, Chrome is a flavor on Linux, and therefore the linus version, when complied on it should run. There is also a windows emulator. Has anyone tried this? I am up to the task I think, but maybe someone has some eperience.

Here is the error message I received this morning while opening Scid vs PC at r3092. I am running the program on AMD A8 2.4 ghz Windows 10 invalid command name "::tacgame::config" invalid command name "::tacgame::config" while executing "::tacgame::config" (menu invoke) This happened as the application had finished launching. I have actually never thought about this. I was once one of those users of Chessbase that found navigation around its pretty system to be disconbobulating, say nothing of its cost. My original version was chessbase six. I felt, and still feel that the design of Chessbase, if one is actually trying to get some analysis done, is a hindrance. First: This is not a feature request. I can see from reading the help files that this is possible. Has anyone done this? I have a boatload of games to enter to my global database, ad I think using the DGT Eboard might be a quick way to do this.

SUCCESS!!!! I used manipulation of the clip base and negation filters to get an answer. Here is my method. How to Select Games where neither Side ever Castles Using SCID vs PC 1. Open your main database. On my computer, the Path is: c:\Scid vs PC 4.19\bin\bases\global\global.si 2. In the global data base in the above path. Hi everyone, As per the conversation in tne past, I found a work around for the mate in n issues I was having. I then noted that the problem finding the files seemed to be as if it timed out. My bases directory, with all miygames files had swollen to 37.5 gig with 45 subfolders and some 3,200 separate files. Very recently, I rearranged my bases directorty by creating a global sub folder inside of the bases folder and then moved all my directorty structures and files into the global subfolder, with...

The Mate in N feature in v 4.19 ( 64 bit)does not work for me. However, I associated Komodo 9 64 bit version for windows with one of the function keys and launched it, after having issues with doing the same with Stockfish 9 64 in training mode. Komodo seems to be as stable as a rock and I am using the training feature on it. It does play out the endgame positions from a tactics file I have built very well. I am using SCID vs PC v 4.19 as a training tool as am returning to USCF OTB tournament play after a 27 year layoff. I have mastered using Polyglot to create opening books, and I have an extensive library of high quality games to train with, I am interested in hopefully seeing the mate in n tool working.
