Hello, I'm not sure where to start looking to resolve the issue generating the error. I've looked at many startup and config files (there are many that are different out there) but nothing seems out. Could someone point me in the right direction. AX.25 and LinPac come up and stay up. The "Socket: Operation not permitted" error appears in LinPac's bottom window. My environment: Raspbian (jessie) for x86 running on Pentium II PK-232MBX TNC in KISS mode LinPac version 0.25 (Jan 13 2018) Thank you, Mitch...

Thank you David, I've taken a step forward. I believe you are right about the initial error being caused by axlisten not running as root. FYI on installing ax25spyd. After applying the patch, the first time I ran ./configure it complained that it wasn't finding "libax25.a". The error message indicated to install the "ax25-utils-devel" package. I couldn't find that package but did find "libax25-dev" which solved the problem. When ax25spyd starts, it complains that it "failed to bind server socket"...

Thanks everyone for responding! I was missing libncurses5-dev. Pointing me to the README file also made me learn a few other things. Much appreciated. I now have Linpac installed ... off to configuring it. Thanks again, Michel
