Editing zap2xml file should be able to be done in notepad. I think it is the -D option, which will 'include extra program details' that is the issue, as I had the crash scenario after trying to add that option to my file. When I recently forced my computer to the same IP address as my phone, my computer was showing an IP address completely different from all my other IP addresses (169.x.y.z rather than 192.a.b.c) in the 'attached devices' tab of my router - that was the starting point I was trying...

To clarify my response: I was referring to the 'Windows Media Center has stopped working' error pictures when I mentioned I had the same issue. I did not have an IP address conflict on my machine at all. If philip is still having a crashing issue when going to new recordings vs older recordings, try scaling back on the 'fancier' options available as I stated previously.

I had the same issue with Windows Media Center crashing after doing the EPG Collector the first time. I ended up trying to not do anything extra with the import. My zap2xml file is very plain, only using options 'N' 'U' 'd' and 'S' and I do not have any boxes checked in the 'General Options' portion of the 'Output' tab in EPG. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Media Center, but I am pretty sure the simplistic nature of the import is what actually fixed my issue. As for the IP conflict: you...

I used the following page to figure that out. Scroll past the stuff you already know and then you'll start seeing screen shots of Windows Media Center. That's where it will start to explain the process you need. https://digiex.net/threads/windows-media-center-tv-guide-data-fix-wmc-ota-epg.15262/

I know Steve did all the work, but I'm happy to hear that this thread helped someone else. After using this setup for a few days I figured out how to set up Task Scheduler to run zap2xml and then immediately start EPG Collector once the first task finished. I have found a quirk on my end with shows that are part of a series not set to record properly, but I believe I figured that out today. For me it looks as though that issue is caused by mcupdate.exe -pvrscheduletask not setup/working properly...

That was it. At some point I clicked 'Name images from programme title' - which I thought would be easier for me to find if I ever needed to, not realizing this was causing the issue with it not completing properly. Since I have it working again, I'll try and resist the urge to continue to make changes to it. Thanks again for the assistance.

Ok, one more post. After a successful run of the program, the next time I tried to retreive more data I got a new error. I then tried to just pull in OTA EPG using the same paramaters that I had successfully done before trying to use zap2xml and still recieved the same error. I'm fine with being a 'lost cause' and going with schedules direct, I was just really hoping that I could get a free version to work.
