Thnx for the link, I'm gonna look into that! I tried to make it work in my cde/motif theme for xfce, but the update is done by switching xfce's theme to one with updated colors, which is too slow to achieve this...

I installed an old version of Solaris with CDE on qemu and, as one can see in the movie quoted above, color changes made, take effect everywhere on the desktop, without any noticeable delay. How did they do that? In the current linux version, the changes take effect only after a restart. Just wondering... thnx!
hmm I just tried the same thing with ffmpeg, that seems to work fine ffmpeg -f v4l2 -framerate 30 -video_size 1920x1080 -input_format h264 -i /dev/webcam7 -c copy h264.avi (at least I think it does the same thing). Disadvantage: one cannot monitor the video in real time...
Hello, I want to record 30 fps video using guvcview and my C920. Have to use no recoding (-u raw) because the camera lowers frame rate otherwise (why I dont know). Unfortunately, when I play the resulting avi with mplayer I see a lot of errors, and I can't search in the file. I want to concatenate a number of avi files, that however doesn't go well with these files. Tried to re-index them with ffmpeg (aswell as the concatenated file) but to no avail. The problems go away when I choose a different...
