This tool allows users to edit the contents of a pcap and move frames around. Also it helps to correct errored frames, that happens often due to checksum problems at TCP/IP level.

About the software:

PowerEdit-Pcap is a free and open-source libpcap-based protocol testing tool. This allows modification to your payload and increase/decrease/delete/add any content to any part of the pcap frames.

You can also delete any frame. You can re-order frames visually.

This tool also allow you to just checksum correct errored traces. Also you can replay the pcap file from the UI itself. This tool uses libpcap library and jnetpcap .

About running the tool:

  1. Unzip to any drive
  2. Copy from lib/jnetpcap.dll to C:\windows\system32
  3. Run PowerEdit-Pcap.bat or just double-click on the PowerEdit-Pcap.jar. When windows ask what to open the same with, just point to Java (TM) Platform SE Library.

The tool has an about portion, which indicates the capabilities of the tool.

Following Jnetpcap which is Open Source and L-GPL licensed, this software is also Lesser GPL licensed. You can pretty much modify the source code as much as you like.

Similar Tool:

Although such tools do exist today, in Unix environments )eg CapEdit from Packet-Square for editing trace files using UI (often using GTK+ Toolkit), but are not available as such in Windows.
