Prior to pc shutdown, last night, MaxLauncher was set to auto update. At startup this morning, MaxLauncher-Popup reads, "MaxLauncher is unable to update". You have the right idea, auto-update is working, i.e., auto-update is only failing during startup from a cold/warm boot, MaxLauncher is checking for updates before my network connects. My I suggest you delay MaxLauncher's auto update, say by 15 minutes of so, so a pc is assured to have time to connect to Internet. I think this is what Adobe Acrobat's...

With pc running, internet connection working: 1. I selected/checkbox checked "Check for updates at startup" 2. Exitted MaxLauncher, i.e., with System Explorer assurance, I see MaxLauncher shutdown effectively. 3. Restart MaxLauncher 4. Nothing happened, no popup, no errors. 5. Whereas, using Help/Check for updates now, i.e., Manual Update, MaxLauncher-Popup reads, "MaxLauncher is up to date". 6. After my using your msconfig checklist, I conclude "the problem is with a Startup item", am not sure which startup item was the culprit, after I (decided which I can live without) was left unchecked. Problem Remediated, Thx again.

I have Ditto (portable), however it is never running, I found another app that works better for me, i.e, I like using CopyQ (Clipboard Manager) and it is never running (rarely used) while I get the said Error. Startup running are seen in attachment "startup.txt".

I right-click a used button, select copy and this Error pops up. Copy is successful, can paste button that is copied. I cut, get same error, but it only copies, leaving original remaining. I used Revo-Uninstaller, to uninstall Maxlauncher, restarted PC, reinstalled a fresh copy of Maxlauncher and get the same Error with my copying a button. Side-note: Ability to drag and drop button (copy) would be a nice addition.
