I guess, if anybody knows, the devs here would. I've been trying to find the MIDI specification for the GT-3, but it seems to have disappeared off the interwebs (the Roland site only has the MIDI spec for the GT-6 and later models). I contacted Boss/Roland customer support, but their only response was that the product was end-of-support, so they suggested that I buy a newer effects unit (seriously!). Does anybody here know where I might find it?

Does FXFloorboard have a utility to test a MIDI interface using a loopback (basically, a female-to-female barrel adaptor) on your MIDI cables? Back when I was doing a lot of dev on JSynthLib, I wrote (but don't think I ever committed) something that would do that... it sent a series of longer and longer SysEx messages over the selected OUT and made sure that they came in through the IN intact. Seems like that would help people weed out flaky MIDI interfaces.
