It was my assumption, too, that there might be no problem if I just reduced the size of the volume. So maybe for example burning four volumes of a quarter of the disc's size on the BDXL could solve the problem in future. I will test this the next time I have some new & important data to burn. Those 4-layer BDXLs are still too expensive for just test burning. Nevertheless it is quite mysterious that a 128 GB VeraCrypt volume could already be too big as I never read anything about a maximum possible...

1st: I've tried it on a third computer which runs Windows 8 and the problem remains the same. By the way: I've also tried three different BD-burners which are all able to read 4-layer BDXLs. 2nd: Copying the file to a partition didn't work, too. It causes the same error message: "The file or the folder is damaged and not readable" In my eyes another proof that the quality of the BD disc itself can't be the problem - it can't decrease that much within 4 days even if it was a bad quality disc (which...

Using "VeraCrypt Portable 1.24-Hotfix1" I've created a VeraCrypt file that exactly fits the storage capacity of a 4-layer Blu-ray XL (128 GB) and successfully burned it on such a Blu-ray disc. Successfully means that the burning process was verified afterwards of course and the varification didn't detect a burning error. I've chosen exFAT as file system since there are files inside which are bigger than 4 GB. And of course I've chosen the right UDF format (2.60) for burning on a write once Blu-ray...
