    Kristy: Ubuntu developers didn't wrote postfixadmin. They are maintaining postfixadmin package for Ubuntu, and this package is responsible for dependency tracking, which removed MySQL on your server. postfixadmin authors didn't create any code which is responsible for installing or uninstalling packages on specific Linux / BSD distributions. Imagine postfixadmin is a bottle of wine. You buy it from your local supermarket (Ubuntu), and they (supermarket / Ubuntu) pack this great wine in a paper bag...

    Kristy, "those morons" you are talking about are Ubuntu developers. I suppose you are using Ubuntu, so you are installing a lot of software "written by those clowns". Anyway - I've installed postfixadmin on Ubuntu 20.04, installed postfixadmin package, got the same error you did and fixed it without removing MySQL data or reinstalling whole server. Next time don't use "purge" on packages that contains important data :)

    Kristy, first of all calm down a little, this attitude won't get you nowhere. postfixadmin package on Ubuntu 20.04 is maintaned by: Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers ubuntu-devel-discuss@lists.ubuntu.com Original-Maintainer: Norman Messtorff normes@normes.org Bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+filebug so https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+filebug is better place to fill a bug regarding to Ubuntu package. Indeed, postfixadmin package on Ubuntu 20.04 uninstalls mysql-server and try to use postgres...

Except one: And that one works with files and does not integrate postfixadmin. I'm running this combination on FreeBSD, it's really not that different than running it on Linux (only minor path adjustments are needed IIRC). -- Best regards, Łukasz Wąsikowski

    Postfixadmin works with Argon via Dovecot - https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/authentication/password_schemes/ I'm using it this way: $CONF['encrypt'] = 'dovecot:ARGON2ID'; $CONF['dovecotpw'] = "/usr/local/bin/doveadm pw";

    but i don't have a backup Start doing backups now, you need them. If you are running the same MySQL version as you used to before breaking this setup, then you can try those steps: copy /var/lib/mysql/postfix to safe place outside of /var/lib/mysql look in /etc/postfix configuration files for mysql user credentials - write them down in MySQL create database and user with full access to this database - use credentials from previous step shutdown MySQL and copy postfix database dir back to /var/lib/mysql...
