On make I got fatal error: 'netinet/ether.h' file not found, but there is no netinet folder at all, let alone an ether.h file. ?? I had got through the ./configure stage after a couple of tries. Initially it claimed: configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 goocanvas-2.0) were not met, but I already had glib-2.72.3. I then installed goocanvas and itstool (after alerted by another try at configure). Then the ./configure --with-internal-glib completed without error, although it warned that...
Thanks. That discussion only really had the same workaround that I found, which was to view at 75% zoom. Someone also discovered that 150% works, if you have a large enough monitor. Interesting that both are multiples of 75%. I suspect that some software (component) dependency was broken with the macOS Monterey upgrade. I hope that a fix will come before too long.
If we can identify the fix we should apply it to Freemind. I never really got into alternatives such as SimpleMind. Freemind was always much more productive.
75% zoom was my workaround too, and the interface, well that's just something tolerate until we can figure out the cause and solution.
I currently have a Freemind document open, and I can read the contents when I have the zoom set to 75%, but not when at 100%. I could not adjust the font scale for text in the User Interface. For further reference, the same mind map works fine on my macOS Catalina iMac in the previous Beta version, 1.02 (off the top of my head). I also copied that version to the macOS Monterey machine and it had the same fonts problem. I was using FreeMind 1.1.0 beta 2 okay on macOS Big Sur, but after upgrading macOS to macOS 12.0.1 (Monterey), the fonts in the user interface were completely messed up and illegible. On the mindmap the fonts were also illegible, but became legible when I reduced the zoom from 100% to 75%. I was not able to find a way to do a similar adjustment for the interface itself. I tried some font settings to no avail. I could not read much of the interface. I discovered that there was an update for the Java...
Oh, how pertinent to my only reason for searching through here! I was just frustrated by 1.0.1 on macOS (High Sierra) due to bullet points formatting and was wondering whether I should take a chance on the FreeMind Beta. I used to use FreeMind 0.8.x a lot a dozen years ago or more when I used Windows, but this is one of the very few programs that never quite lived up to my hopes on macOS. Maybe the Beta will help me get back into FreeMind.
