I have found an error in the .bat files of Emily 0.8 which prevents the editor from starting up. The error was masked on the development system, which is why it has only just been discovered. The .bat files were using the development directory rather than the directory in which the working version of Emily was to be found. I apologize for this error, which has now been corrected in Emily 0.81. The functionality of this release is otherwise unchanged.

Changes Emily 0.7 to Emily 0.8 Emily 0.8 is identical functionally to emily 0.7 (unfortunately!) but the implementation language is now Python. The syntax of .mle files is unchanged from emily0.7. The GUIbits library has also been re-implemented in Python using PyQt5. The re-implementation was aided by using the Pythonizer translator. Emily is now 70% of the way to being a decent editor, circa 1980. She allows you to enter and edit text, and move around the text using the arrow keys. She also line-wraps, unlike her predecessors, so you can write prose as well as poetry. Don't expect anything fancy, though, and don't try to write more than one page. Look out for Emily 0.8, with even more amazing features!
