    And thank you for your reply. I agree that this could be yet another bios bug, sigh, like apic & lapic... I will try cloning with the option -iefi as well as noapic and hope for the best.     Thanks for the reply. These machines are decades old and were a gift to our fledgling fablab. There is no support from Dell or anyone else possible. I was just trying to make the viable for our members to use on site if they don't bring their own laptops to the lab. If I have some energy, I will try to update the bios on the next machine I clone from, if I can find an update online somewhere. Nevertheless, it is a serious bug and as such I would never dare to use clonezilla on a machine that mattered...

    Hi, I realize that this is nearly one year later, but I had the same issue using cloenzilla 2.6.4-10 amd64. I was cloned disk to disk on a Dell Dimension E521 and when I tried to reboot, nothing at all was possible. I tried changing hard drives, usb drives, disconnecting all the devices, etc. but the boot startup message never displayed and the monitor simply went into stand by mode.
