_sdcc_external_startup() not called for STM8

Adding ever more device headers makes the release bigger and also requires more effort keeping everything synchronized. And adding >>100 headers for STM8 alone is a big adder... On the other hand providing the device headers together with SDCC allows the users to utilize them out of the box. As said, a framework concept like in PlatformIO could be a compromise, but who would develop (and maintain) that?

understood. How about scripts which download the respective device headers from repos in a given structure, and adds them to the SCDD search path. If a user wants to work with a certain controller he/she first downloads the required headers. Kind of the framework concept in PlatformIO

hello all, I was wondering whether the STM8 is also supported by embsysregview. I found this discussion about folder structure, which mentions it explicitely, but it seems to miss in the actual files. And in the same context: if a suitable STM8-XML were (made) available, is the OS compiler SDCC and graphical debugging via SWIM interface also supported? Any feedback is highly appreciated!
