"would" means that isn't the case yet if i understood you right? That seems to be a handy solution for the problem, not only for SimCopter and Streets, there are for sure other old games which use uncompressed .wav files since the machines was to slow to decompress especially when a 3D Direct-X rendered game was running. Wha is not to clear to me if you think of a temporary .wav file eg in the user directory, else you would overwrite the zero bytes .wav.

my recent repo for SimCopter: https://1drv.ms/f/c/0ecbef75dd11f515/IgAV9RHdde_LIIAOPgQAAAAAAZxGyt5lo0o1Ge-UEKpVQco?e=mz63AA my recent repo for Streets: https://1drv.ms/f/c/0ecbef75dd11f515/IgAV9RHdde_LIIAOlwQAAAAAATu9l2Yzk7aUUqLg9-x1X68?e=JPlUoO The "rush fix" replaces a few graphics for the voodoo 3dfx card (emulation) which are located in the streets.exe, mainly fire with no black border and more transparent "droplike" water. If there is no comfortable solution to keep the filesize of the music...

That seems to me a bit strange since i never ran into any problems using a higher quality stream as long as it's a RIFF WAV. What i use for Simcopter is mostly 22kHz 8 bit stereo and i'm pretty sure even 16 bit depth will work. Picky? some even have an unusual sample rate of 12288Hz (0x3000), however all that works fine it just eats up ~2GB on my HD, per game SimCopter and Streets. it also works flawless with my own ID files sim1.id - sim.id no matter how you rename them as long as you keep the suffix...

That sounds promising thanks! yes i will atach a common .wav in 22kHz 8bit stereo imho that's enough for the game (both SimCopter and Streets) you won't hear that little noise when the chopper is running or the car is driving. It's in fact rather to keep the used space low as to increase the quality and if taht delay isn't to big it neither won't be a problem, it's just music from the radio station(s). If i do compress the dj and commercials i assume the lag will be nearrly the same so it won't matter...

In general it's not needed to install SimCopter using the 16bit installer, dragging the proper files into a directory works fine. If one likes he can add the registry entry by himself mainly to state the mayors (owners) name and to redirect to the proper directory. it looks like this: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Maxis\SimCopter] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Maxis\SimCopter\Localize] "Language"="USA" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Maxis\SimCopter\Paths] "Home"="C:\\games\\Maxis\\SimCopter"...
