I had the same problem using Ubuntu 20.04 and V3.5 from the repos. It would happen consistently even with a small number of photos (5) imported. I invoked from the command line to capture the terminal for you and it works just fine!! i.e invoking from apps crashes invoking from the terminal does not. In case it helps here is the terminal output I used a -v switch thinking it might give me a version number from the cli. kim@Inspiron-16-7610:~$ imagination -v Using ffmpeg for encoding.
