Hi AliReda. I am using Pep Devuan Loaded 64bit. At the moment peppermint is testing the new Pep versions based on excalibur so they are probably extra busy preparing stuff for that.

Hmmm...there is in my Synaptic but I have been using peploaded. Maybe try sudo apt install pepinstall and see what happens then. Otherwise, hopefully pepermintos can help.

Hi there AllReda. I have installed the pep software manager in my os before and it installs just fine. Shouldn't be a problem. It's in Synaptic and called pepinstall.

Just following up: The very next day after that big PepVoid update, I had an almost 400mb update and a couple days later, a 136 mb update!!Phew !! Thats alot of updates !! lol

Hi there. I have had same issues installing PeppermintOS Dev 5. Once, even not connecting to the internet didnt work either. I was able to finally install Pep Dev 5 while connected to the net. I waited a very long time and then decided to cut the internet connection and it went straight to the installation done screen. Hullo again. Well, I finally got my Brother MFCJ1012DW printer installed and running on PepVoid !! Turned out to be realtively easy. Looked online and came across a webpage from a guy who had similiar issues with a Brother Printer https://mindsforge.com/Notes/PrintingBrotherVoidLinux and all I did was add nss and mdns from the XBPS package manager. I was expecting to have to do a little more per instructions but I added the printer via Print Settings and it printed a test page immediately. No more...

Well, I got alot further....somewhat. I found print filters and installed them. But whenever I try to print it now says, Printer 'Brother MFCJ1012DW' may not be connected. Funny thing is that Document Scanner works fine and I can scan with my multi-function printer, but sadly not print as yet. It says 'unable to locate the printer. The scan utility was able to lol. I don't have any trouble locating the printer myself. I can see it clearly !! Maybe I should hold the laptop up close to the printer...

I extracted a PPD file for my printer from the mfc deb file I used to install the printer under Pepdevuan. Have installed that but it keeps saying ..There is a missing print filter for printer \Brother_MFCJ1012DW'. So, some progress but not quite there yet :)

Thanks so much PeppermintOS. The PepVoid is running great and I would like to keep it. Been looking al over the net :) for something as well but hard to find. I may have to install Daedalus after previously being only able to use PepDev4. I can now install PepDev 5. I found out, after a couple of years lol, that tlp was the culprit and was cutting off power to the external drives and usb ports. I automatically installed TLP when I did an installation. So I can use pepDev 5 now. But its a big install...

I am having trouble installing my Brother MFCJ1012DW on PepVoid linux. On PepDevuan it was easy using the deb file from Brother and adding i386. I have installed the foomatic drivers recommended by Void for Brother Printers but still no success. Any ideas on how to successfully add my brother printer to PepVoid ?

Sorry. Missprint there. Should read, " I haven't found the right combination in cups adminstration tab to properly install the printer yet.

I was able to fix the admin access problem by using sudo usermod -aG lpadmin < username>. Can now access Cups interface as desired. Havent found the right combination yet to add the print properly but hopefully soon.

Further to the above, I found an already compiled PPD which looks like it will work but still need to be able to access administration tab on cups web interface. Still no success installing printer :(

Hi there. I downloaded the PepVoid Iso from the build site and installed it on my laptop.A llittle different from what I have been using but got most things installed and its running great and extremely stable. The encryption worked fine with btrfs as the file system. A small pity that Stacer and Naver whale aren't in the repos but I can get around that okay. I realize its an early release but as i mentioned, its been rock solid for me. The only trouble I have had is installing my Brother MFC-J1012DW...

Greetings again. Back with Peppermint Devuan 4. Always a little tricky in getting it to recognize the wifi adaptor but once that's done, its all good and as I mentioned above, super reliable and no problem with external drive recognition. I see its supported until some time in 2026, so maybe I will have a new laptop by then ha ha. Or an update down the track to Peppermint Devuan 5 may help with compatibility issues. Have a great week and we will see if the All Blacks can topple South Africa :)

Hi there. Thanks Peppermint OS and rayzer for your help. Sadly, no success as yet. Using a different system in the meantime. I may revert back to Dev 4 version as it was super reliable. I had looked at Acor as its a sister OS but while installing with encryption, it always fails and drops to a busybox shell saying it can't find some file ! I still run the new XFCE Peppermint on my All-in-one desktop and no issues there so yes, perhaps a compatibility issue. See how it goes. Thanks again.

I installed the XFCE Peppermint Devuan 5 64 on my laptop and it installed really well and runs great. The first XFCE Peppermint Devuan 5 would not install but this one installs nicely. Very happy. Thanks to all involved !

Hi there Peppermint OS. Thanks for your new builds. I have been trying for some time to download the xfce devuan version but no success. All links I click are only running at 20-50 kb's per second and browser is reading anything from 3 to 12 hours to download file. Tried another file and same result. I have tried another browser and same result as well. Internet is working fine on all other areas. Is there a problem with the sourceforge setup ? Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks for your reply Peppermint OS. I found this on the Devuan galaxy Forum site. It looks like it MAY ? be possible under Wayland but its not there yet it seems. Hi cavy. Problem solved by easy work around. My mistake above in the post. My laptop is a Asus Vivobook M509DA with Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega and AMD ATI 03:00.0 Picasso GPU. Running Peppermint Devuan 4. I installed Gnome desktop from synaptic and easily and quickly mirrored displays. I will just both xfce and gnome. Mostly use xfce and then boot to gnome for mirroring re presentations. Easy work around and I like gnome alot too. :) So I got there :). Thanks cavy.

Hi there. I am trying to mirror my laptop display onto our non-smart TV via HDMI cable. The option to mirror displays is greyed out and I can only set it to display on the TV only and not the laptop. I have checked on xfce forums for an answer but nothing yet. Our other laptop is running a cinnamon based arch distro, Arcolinux, and its little trouble to mirror displays there but no go with xfce. I am using Devuan 4based Peppermint with XFCE 4.16. Thanks for any help.

Hi there. I had a previous version iso and tried that as my preference is for Peppermint Devuan, rather than a systemd based distro. Arcolinux runs great but my preference has been a systemd-free os. Thanks Adam. Better now I think :). Though sadly I had to do a reinstall as computer wouldnt recognize external drives; mouse stopped working entirely. Tried installing another filemanager but no go either so reinstalled. My previous installs were with openrc but thought this time I would go with the default. See how it goes.

Sorry. Forgot to mention one other thing.....On install my password would work for log in to desktop but not in the terminal. I normally use symbols in my password. I looked online and someone suggested using a password with just numbers and letters. I tried that on the reinstall and all was good. Never had that before.

Hi there. I downloaded and installed Peppermint Gnome Falshback and its working well mostly. Like it very much as I am a mate fan as well as other desktops, partic gnome. I installed twice as by default my installation sets up Portuguese keyboard for some unexplained reason and I have to add standard US english. HI there. Just noting the same issue about where repo.peppermintos.com couldnt be reached. Seemed yesterday it was fixed. Tried it again this morning. First time it was down again and then a little while later it went through ok. Not sure if this is an intermittant issue.

I even tried another one that showed in autostart, brightness.desktop.desktop but no change. Could it be something to do with my system as I use AMD graphics ? Thanks alynur

Hi there cavy. Thanks for your adjustment there. I was now able to carry out intructions exactly as shown. Sadly, there is still no change on reboot, even when I vary the brightness percentages. I have rechecked to maker sure I am doing it right and looks fine but no change as yet so will press on anyway for now :)

Hi there Cavy. Thanks so much for your detailed response and suggestions. 1: Brightness control set to preferred setting but it resets to zero on reboot. I shouldn't have to continually reset my computer screen brightness upon every boot. Only XFCE based OS does this. 2: I normally prefer dark theme. peppermint-dark-orange. 3: Compositor settings are at 100% ( default ) 4: Have tried installing brightness control apps to fix this but none work as desired. 5: I can adjust manually the screen brightness...

Seems there is alot to set it up and get it running :) The intructions given at stack exchange to install and run it are really a little bit beyond me. I don't want to mess up my system.
