I'm trying to port sdcc to WebAssembly to be able to use it in the browser as part of an online IDE. My idea is to compile STM8 (just to start with something I'm familar with) code directly in the browser and using WebUSB upload it directly to the connected device. I hope not only to get some help here, but maybe also make the sdcc sources "emscripten compatible". At the moment I downloaded the 3.9.0 sources and tried to hack something together locally.
