is qmake available on your pi? The log seems to indicate it did not find it.

I am recording on the client, not on the server. My client is a Raspberry Pi running the regular Raspbian. Doc is here: https://github.com/kmatheussen/jack_capture/blob/master/README Extract from my command history (Not sure all the apt-get libraries are really necessary). sudo apt-get install git build-essential alsa-base libasound2-dev libsamplerate0-dev libsndfile1-dev libreadline-dev git https clone://github.com/kmatheussen/jack_capture.git cd jack_capture LDFLAGS=-latomic make sudo make install...

Thank you devs and communitity or Jamulus. This wonderful tool allowed me to organise a live concert & jam for the International Jazz Day (30 April), with 8 people. I have spent hours with each musician to build their Jamulus setup & mini-studio. I am running three machines at home for this: 1. a Jamulus server running on RPI4. 2. a Jamulus client on a second RPI4 and Streinberg UR22C. My contrabass was hooked there. 3. An iMac running another instance of Jamulus (for final master balance) hooked...

I am progressing well through resolution. It is now perfectly working if I start jackd through the regular one in /usr/bin, and not the special compiled version produced by raspijamulus.sh I will continue my investigations to spot what is wrong with the low-latency jackd compiled by Jamulus.

Hi, I have just got my new Audio box, a Steinberg UR22C, working in USB3 in 32bits. It works fine on my Mac with Jamullus. But, on my raspberry Pi (Raspbian Buster), Jamulus (or is it jack?) is behaving strangely... The same setup is working perfectly with a zoom H4. I am using the distribution/raspijamulus.sh script to start the low latency client. Observed behaviour on PI4: during 2 minutes it works beautifully, but after hearing a few cracks, the sound gradually starts be very distorded during...

Do you need to run a client or a server? raspijamulus.sh is a low-latency client, not the server! To build the server, you have to look at the message at the top of this thread, which refers to the install.md file.

Just so you know, the server is running very fine, no leaks or need to reboot, constant quality. We regularly are 7 musicians playing together, delay around 70ms for people within 30km distance. We set all clients at 10.67ms buffer delay, and set the jitter buffer manually slighly above what the auto selects (so around 10). No cracking at all in the sound (quality set to normal, Mono), but the latency makes is challenging to keep the time in the group. Here is the info I provide to my band-mades...

found it! I installed jack_capture, and after starting jamulus, I open a new terminal and just launch ./jack-capture to record the output into a wav file. easy!

Volker, I am interested to record on my PI4, can you give me hints about how to do this with jack? Is it best done on the server or client? Thanks.

  • SIVA Frédéric SIVA Frédéric posted a comment on discussion Open Discussion

I have realised that my build only worked thanks to a package I had installed earlier: libjack-jackd2-dev. I have proposed a script correction on github and pull request. BTW: I have also tested the RPI4 with a UM2 card (33 EUR!), it works like a charm.

Hi, I managed to run Jamulus server on my new PI4 (2GB works fine), super easy: - installl Raspbian Buster. I allow VNC and SSH for comfort, it will ultimately run without VNC for high speed - Edit /boot/config.txt to enable boot without HDMI (hdmi_force_hotplug=0) - you may need to play with raspi-config to set a working resolution, and ask to boot with a desktop so that VNC can see work. - install a VNC client on another machine (works on tablet or smartphone too), I suggest realvnc - wget https://sourceforge.net/projects/llcon/files/Jamulus/3.4.3/Jamulus-3.4.3.tar.gz...

hum, I have no clue, we tested it at 7, I would only need 10 per server. CPU is always under 30%. I just hesitate to install a second PI4 which may be an overkill! Note: the real-time params made a vast improvement in audio quality, almost no drops when clients are set at 10ms buffer delay.

I run a privateserver on a pi4, superb quality thanks to the real-time parameters. Can I run 2 servers on the same machine, uisng different ports, with the same RT parameters? thanks for your advices.

look here: https://sourceforge.net/p/llcon/discussion/533517/thread/9a967489/ starting the server is easy on a Mac, but allowing inbound internet traffic to reach it is another story, and depends on the type and complexity of your network. see the middle of the page here: http://llcon.sourceforge.net/servermanual.html

I believe you have no USB sound card or device attached (see at the top of your log, where is says "using USB device: "), which may be why Jackd did not start.

Yepee - I managed to get Jamulus run on a regular Raspberry4 (4Gb) running latest Raspian with Desktop. https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspberry-pi-desktop/ I have a zoom H4 connected to it, acting as a USB Cardwith microphone & headphone (Works without any driver on Mac or Windows, so working immediately on RPI). I just followed instructions I found on the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7WaU_QiYkc Configure H4 to work in 48khz, connected in USB to RPI Right click RPI speaker icon...

Thanks for the tip, this is a good test to do. I did NOT register my own server on the central server indeed. Client 1: connecting to sever via public IP - works fine Client 2: connecting to server via LAN IP - works fine (But does not work if using public IP when Client1 is first connected). So, strange behaviour, but I can run my tests now.

I am running a private Jamulus Server on my LAN, all working, reachable by my friends. I am running a Client from a Mac on my LAN, all working when connecting to any server, including my above one When trying to start a second Mac with one more Jamulus client on my LAN, for testing purposes, it sometimes work, but not always: Symptom is that I seem connected to the server (Server GUI reports corretctly the 2 clients), but I have no volume cursor in my Jamulus Window, and I do not see the other clients...

  • SIVA Frédéric SIVA Frédéric posted a comment on discussion Open Discussion

Dan, you are right, the only thing a client needs to do is to: 1- click the connect button of main Jamulus screen 2- enter the public IP adress of your sever in the drop-down box called "Server Name/Adress" 3- Click on Connect button of that "Connection Setup" window. FYI, I am running a Jamulus Server at home, on a regular Raspberry Pi4 for a week now, it all works provided I allow my home router to forward internet incomming traffic on 22124 towards that server (port forwarding). In your case,...

thanks Marc, thanks Volker. I just want to run a Jamulus Server on a RPI4, and continue using my OSX Client. My skill level is rather low in building Linux packages... After downloading 3.4.3, I have tried the build-debian-package.sh, but after a lot of messages, I get this error (in french, sorry): ./build-debian-package.sh: ligne 15: debuild : commande introuvable stupid question, after a succesful build, will I get the GUI on PI like I have on my Mac? Thanks, and pardon my ignorance.
