Hello com0com Developers and Users, Following questions here https://stackoverflow.com/q/79545926/4999991, here https://sourceforge.net/p/com0com/code/, and here https://superuser.com/q/1889354/588662, I'm seeking assistance with installing the com0com virtual serial port driver on my Windows 10 system. I am encountering the "Code 52" error (Windows cannot verify the digital signature) for the com0com devices, preventing the driver from loading. My Environment: Operating System: Windows 10 (Latest...
Additional Troubleshooting Performed: Extracted the certificate from the signed com0com.sys driver and manually added it to both the "Trusted Publishers" and "Root" certificate stores in Windows. Copied the com0com.cat catalog file to the Windows catalog directory (CatRoot). Modified the driver signing policy in the registry. Found that despite all these attempts, Windows still rejects the driver with error 577: "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file." The ports are successfully...

Following this comment on Reddit and this post on StackOverflow, I want to unarchive the SIEMENS NX .prt files using 7zip (example file). I would appreciate it if you could help me know how I can do it using 7zip GUI or CLI interfaces.

This is great news. How should I communicate with Molnar Karoly? Does he attend this forum? Or maybe he has Twitter/LinkedIn, or willing to share an email address?
From here, I see that gputils also doesn't support PIC10F MCUs.
Who are the people working or who used to work on the PIC microcontrollers? I know of Vangelis Rokas, for example. Maybe we can contact them and encourage them to pick this up again?
In the doc/README.txt file it says: Work is in progress on supporting the Microchip PIC16 and PIC18 targets. Is there a reason why PIC10F family of microcontrollers aren't being considered? P.S.1. I would like to try this code on a PIC10F100, if possible. P.S.2. I have posted a follow up question here.

It would be nice though to take a look at other tools which I have listed here. There English language linters and palgarism checkers which I have linked there as well.
As explained on the download page this is known bug in VirtualBox. to resolve it: while on installation options press Tab add raw at the end of the line (there should be at least one space) go forward and format C drive and when rebooted follow the same procedure again the second round will be successful!
open m4a files
let me explain in a different way. What I'm asking is to have the ability to define global variables / parameters. For example to have R1 = 10k and have some resistors with the resitance of for example 2 * R1 . to do so you can add a new tag in the .simu files refering to the variable.
There is a file in C:\ProgramData\chocolatey\lib\simulide\tools\SimulIDE_0.3.10_SR1-Win32\bin which is ok, except when I try to assign the .simu file extension causing the same problem as above! 🤔
I see the .simu files have some form of XML like format with tags and every aspect of the simulation and its part are controllable. I was wondering if there could be a section for variable /parameter definition and then those variables o be usable in all sections. For example there could be a tag Variable and then instead of the values a variable coul dbe assigned. Simple arithmetics for these variables would also be great. benefits are that one can change all the resistors once or design a better...
I tried installing the app through chocolatey package manager as discussed here: choco install simulide However I get this error message: This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "windows". Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. another issue has been placed here.

Again as a Follow up on this matter, I decided to rewrite the Scilab / ScicosLab serial port communication toolbox from scratch to have similar functionalities as MATLAB. It took me a couple of weeks and almost a thousands lines of spaghetti code but now I have an early prototype. Here you can see live plotting of potentiometer readings.
Adding pstoedit to Chocolatey package mager on Windows
As a follow up, now I can read the serial port in SciLab and pars the CSV data: Here you may find more information. This code for Arduino: long randNumber; void setup() { Serial.begin(9600); randomSeed(analogRead(0)); } void loop() { randNumber = random(1000); Serial.print(randNumber); Serial.print(", "); randNumber = random(1000); Serial.println(randNumber); randNumber = random(1000); delay(randNumber); }
figured it out myself. I had two issues, first I could not see the new ports in the ports section in the device manager: but it was in the com0com - serial port emiulators above: and the drivers were not installed by default so right click update drivers solved this problem. Second issue was that when using the com0com GUI to Add pair it did not assign them to COM* ports! as a result that no such a file or directory error happens. So I opened the cli version Setup Command Promt/setupc.exe and then...
this worked great. Thanks a lot. As a side feature request, the rotating wheel for potentiometer is a bit difficult to control. it would be great if one could change it to a slider and/or put the values manually (e.g. in the properties section).
aha! so basically the output of the analogRead is int anyways and the temporary memory used for arithmetics is the same as the operator pairs. if I do ((long) analogRead(...)) it should be solved. Will try and come back.
Would you be kind enough to elaborate on the setup of the Null-modem emulator (com0com)? I understand that when I install the software it immulates a pair of com ports (for example Com1 and Com2). Then what should I do? should I put one in the SimulIDE and the other on the SciLab-xcos?
As I mentioned earlier I'm having difficulties running the examples: and when I try to open ttyS0 for example get the below error: error no such a file or directory

For the moment I used a float variable as a workaround: int potPin1 = A0; int potPin2 = A1; int ledPin1 = 2; int ledPin2 = 3; int ledPin3 = 4; int val1 = 0; int val1_ = 0; int val2 = 0; int val2_ = 0; float tmpf = 0.0; float Tmax = 1000; unsigned long T = millis(); int dt = 0; void setup() { pinMode(ledPin1, OUTPUT); pinMode(ledPin2, OUTPUT); pinMode(ledPin3, OUTPUT); Serial.begin(9600); } void loop() { tmpf = analogRead(potPin1) * (Tmax / 1024.0); val1 = (int) tmpf; tmpf = analogRead(potPin2) *...
I have a simple model with some LEDs and potentiometers (in the attachment) and the code below: int potPin1 = A0; int potPin2 = A1; int ledPin1 = 2; int ledPin2 = 3; int ledPin3 = 4; long val1 = 0; long val2 = 0; int Tmax = 1000; void setup() { pinMode(ledPin1, OUTPUT); pinMode(ledPin2, OUTPUT); pinMode(ledPin3, OUTPUT); Serial.begin(9600); } void loop() { val1 = analogRead(potPin1) * Tmax / 1024; val2 = analogRead(potPin2) * val1 / 1024; Serial.print(val1); Serial.print(", "); Serial.println(val2);...
some points: 1. It would be great if you could open the comments section of the weblog. 2. It would be great if you could link to the original example you have mentioned in this page. 3. the toolbar icons are unintuitive/unconventional IMHO. A conventional menu bar would also be great. 4. Windows binary for the latest version would be great. or built instructions. 5. is the example analog_serial.simu just for Linux?

Awsome. I will look into this. Thanks btw the second video is broken.
Consider this for example.

SciLab/ScicosLab have a nice GUI bulding capability as well as SIMULINK like visual programing environment xcos/scicos. plus there is an Arduino plugin. I was wondering if SimulIDe could provide a virtual interface to have a complete PC in the loop (hardware in the loop) simulation?
Thanks for the response and my aplogies for miss explaning myself. It doesn't actually have to be Microchip-PIC MCU. As afar as it is supported in SumulIDE, has the features I have explained here and there are FOSS toolchain available it is ok. So maybe I should look at ATMEL AVR chips? I belive former ATMEL was more keen towards FOSS and there are pleanty of FOSS compailers and other compniets I have listed here. About Jal (not?) Having my early model tested using the MCU dev-boards, now I want to move on to the MCU itself. I have created a list of affordable MCUs in my reagion. But I'm not sure how should I get to the hex file required by SImulIDE. I know C99 and Python3.x and could find my way around C++, but not any of other pecular high level languages I have mentioned here or low level assembly. I have also found SDCC and these examples for PIC16F886 PIC18F2550, from which the later I have found in the list of SimulIDE...
One small issue, when connections/wires cross eachother it seems like a junction:
something else I wanted to add about point 5, finding the hex file is anot that intutive with Arduino IDE. It took me a good 5 min or so to figure it out. For students who don't know how to use find on terminal it should take much longer :)
Exactly: do one thing and do it good. I also started with KTechLab. The guy behind the project is awsome. but it is still not a viable option. Not all of th epoints I have mentione are equally important. I just shared some of the ideas I had. On a side note, I also created this ticket to add SimulIDe to Chocolatey. It would be great if you could do this. Then everytime you realise a new version users can update automatically.

Thanks a lot. 4. I think the more realistic the better. 5. I mean when you right click on the MCU or board there is an option to load firmware and then select .hex and .elf files. it would be great if we could select the source codes of some higher level languages like Arduino or C... and then it compiles into the same folder the first time we ran the simulation.
I also implemented the relay version as you sugested. But maybe you can help me know what is the diffrence between this and the ESR one? a couple of poinst: 1. the LED direction is not visible when off 2. For BJts the selection between PNP and NPN is not obvoius. in the properties it says PNP off or on. It would better if it was type: NPN or PNP 3. It would be great if there was an option to export graphs as CSV 4. The Arduino board is apparantly working without a power :) 5. It would be great if...
Thanks. I have also recived this reply to model it as an RCL. I will give it a try, but it would be nice to have it as later this will be used to creat the PCB layout. As a side note it would be great if we could import/export some flavours of netlist. For example I model something in KiCAD and export the netlist for modeling in SimulIDE...

Is there a crystal oscillator in simulIDE? Following this post I now want to substitute the Arduino board with an MCU. I have found this schematic layout where it uses an external crystal oscilator: however, I'm not able to find a crystal oscillator component in SimulIDE. I would appreciate if you could help me know if there is such an item already built-in, or if not how can I represent it using a combination of other components?

From here I ended up simulating it as a equivalent series resistance (ESR):

Hi guys, Thanks for developing this great software. It is truly amazing that FOSS comminity can achive so much. Should be an inductor or a relay? and if either what should be the properties be to represent the power (W) and Voltage? Thanks for help in advance. Best,...

I just googled and this was the first link I found: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib/swak4Foam#Downloading which recomends: svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/openfoam-extend/svn/trunk/Breeder_2.0/libraries/swak4Foam/ swak4Foam_2.x If this is an old version maybe we should update the wiki then. It is a bit confusing which version people should use.

Hi @Bernhard , thanks for the reply. When I google funkySetFields this is the first result I get: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib/funkySetFields#Download and over there this is the only method of instalation. Maybe we can update this part of the wiki? What is the best method to install swak4Foam? Do I have to compile it anyways? It is surprising to see that Repology.org does not bring any results! (link)
