oh! that makes a lot of sense. a pro told me that it would be fine to format the thing as NTFS for use in both operating systems, but they probably didn’t consider that. Thank you! that explains why it often worked in windows before function was restored in Linux. Is there some way to repair the file system intentionally from either OS, or is it just sonething Windows does autonatically?

HI. I'm on Kubuntu 20.04 (HP Victus) trying to write to my lovely, 256 bit AES, HMAC-Whirlpool encrypted SSD (encrypted partition/ volume, not full disk encryption,) and it will not let me. Dolphin (file explorer) Permissions say that I am owner and owner can View & Modify. I have tried to change these permissions many times to no avail. chown fails because Konsole says it is read-only. Hi, I am new to encryption, and I foolishly attempted to encrypt my enormous and precious Seagate backup hard drive as the first try. I left the program running overnight, and awoke to find that it had failed at around 3%. I started the decryption process, and it ran for some time before stopping around 2% encrypted.
