I've tried some of this, but side-tracked by a larger problem: freeze upon Shutdown/Restart at: "kvm: exiting hardware virtualization. So posted with more equipment info under "Hardware"

After updating to Pepperment-11 using a clean install, I can no longer suspend-resume. Using an older Macbook, I have 4 linux distos installed. Previously grub was on Xubuntu so it showed up first in the boot menu. Peppermint-10 was second. I could "save session & logout" then close the laptop lid on both of these. They would resume normally when opening the laptop lid...the desired behavior. After doing the clean install of Peppermint-11 and re-installing Grub there, the boot order is now: 1. Peppermint...

I too prefer upgrades, but Peppermint-10 was minimally tweaked, so I did wipe & install. This went fine, but after restarting, the other distros on the Mac were not seen. In/etc/default/grub a line needs to be added: GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false and then update-grubafter that all was well.

/etc/apt $ lsb_release -a Distributor ID: Peppermint Description: PeppermintOS Release: 11.7 Codename: bullseye I could go either way...debian upgrade or clean install. Peppermint is installed on an older MacBook which is not my main machine. I've used it and like it, but have not tweaked it extensively. I'm leaning toward a clean install just to get everything. My main addition is NFS (Network File System) and I could get a record of everything else with dpkg -l > pkg_list Any thoughts, issues?

Thx cavy, I understand the concept of a "basic" distro that one configures as needed...and that is a good fit for my older Mac laptop. The work-around explained in my previous post continues to work w/o fail, so I consider that Good! And it may help other users...laptops really do need to be able to suspend-resume...one way or another. I ran the previous version of Peppermint on this machine and liked it...so far I'm liking this debian based one even better. Thx for all your efforts.

OK, not a real solution, but a work-around: Log Out and check "save session" then just close the laptop's lid. Do not hit "suspend." To resume: open the lid, and the log-in screen should come up. Log in, and a "saved session" box will come up; click it and the previous session will come up...at least it did for me. It was pretty stable. An ssh login was lost, but a remote NFS mount was kept! There seems to be hidden activity for a few minutes: there is a spinning circle around the cursor indicating...
