Using the logs suggested, I was able to get it to build and run. It is now open on port 3333. I'm not sure that it's actually working. I have the ncid app running on a windows machine. it shows me 2 entries from yesterday but then nothing. I have tried testing by dialing the phone number. It does not answer and nothing appears in the log. In /var/log there is a file called cidcall.log.new there is no cidcall.log I have tried to delete cidcall.log.new but when I do it asks me for the uucp password...
Whatever this was/is it "should do it" but it doesn't This is precisely what is in the downloaded code and it does not compile. Generates the same errors as above.
Hello, My goal is to create a hangup extension that extracts several fields from the input string and searches for a match is a file containing a list of key words. I'm doing this in python because i'm more familiar with that than shell scripting. If I enable one of the sample extensions by editing ncidd.conf, the server restarts successfully after the edit. If I enable a simple python script that works when executed at the command line, the server refuses to start. The failure message is of no use....
is there a memory leak
Thank you
Thanks. Is there an example somewhere?

I know that I can use a commandline option to start roxterm with the Nocturne color scheme. But, when logging in reopens the programs that were running at logout, roxterm shows up again with the default color scheme. Isn't there some way for it to remember both the last profile AND the last color scheme? Thanks
Thanks. I;; check it out.

Hello, I have a new gigabyte aorus master board with 10th gen i9 and 32g ram. Rescuzilla usb in default mode goes to a black screen. In fallback mode it starts to boot reports - failed to start light display manager - failed to start /etc/rc.local compatibility - hdaudio: unable to bind the codec and then it stops. Any suggestions for why and what to do? Thank you

Thanks again for the guidance on this On Wed, Aug 18, 2021, at 8:03 PM, Rescuezilla wrote: OK that sounds good. Just to re-iterate, your best bet is definitely to create a Rescuezilla USB stick https://rescuezilla.com/download and use Rescuezilla to create uncompressed images. Do not use Image Explorer with the default compressed images (because compressed images will cause instability). I will close...
This was for linux. After much searching I found out how to install without needing to build (I think). I was tring to find a use for my mac mini but my machine configuration was so unstable that it would spontaneously restart or freeze. I just sold it and am in the process of building a new linux box. Great! Where should I be looking for it? Thanks p.s. I feel your pain. My Mac Mini gives me nothing but headaches. Not the least of which is that it takes so long to wake up that I end up using the Windows machine that is next to it which always ready. My MBP is ok but I only use it for my Spanish lessons.
Yes, ctrl-c. Now, as soon as 1.12 is avilable I shoukd be all set. Thanks

Am I supposed to not have the service running when using the ncidd -D3 command?
Hi, I've made some progress but am getting an error when I try to test the modem with ncid -Dv3 I've attached the log. Hopefully that error is something easy to fix. Also, any idea when 1.12 might be ready? Thanks, Dan

That sounds very interesting. At the moment I'm having trouble getting it to run. I got is installed and the service started. Then I tried to connect from a browser. It got into a loop endlessly rejecting the connection and after I rebooted the service won't start and there are now usefulnerror messages. I'm baffled. When I installed from source, the make didn't configure things correctly and it would not start. When I installed from .deb I got what I decribed above. Is the server conf supposed to...
Thanks, Maybe I should elaborate on what I really want to do because ncid is actually a work-around to something I'm not sure how to pull off. I don't really need call blocking. What I would rather do is have a device answer the incoming calls, tell the caller to press a number (perhaps randomly chosen between 0-9) and then hang up if there is no key press. Otherwise pass the call (and probably need to regenerate the ringing signal to the regular phones. The reason I interested in knowing which code...
Thanks. That device could work if I put it down stream from the ncid, i.e. - split the line - 1 side to ncid - other side to 1st ring blocker, then on to the rest of the phones. I still need some help on which module does the ring detection.
Thanks. I'm familiar with controlling relays on the pi. I have several small projects that are in "production." So, in this case, I would put a normally-closed relay in the line to the phone. If you can tell me where to alter the code that detects rings, then I could have the relay open on the first ring then, if the call is rejected it could wait for, say, 15 seconds and release the relay or if the call is accepted it would release the relay immediately and the phone would begin ringing. I've looks...
Thanks for the detailed explanation. If I want to hack ncid so that it could open a relay to disconnect the regular phones until ncid ok'd them, where might I look in the code to do that?
hello, I'm getting ready to set up ncid on a pi. I've got the zoom modem. It has only one rj11. In the day, my modems had a line jack and a pbone jack. I can understand how ncid+modem can answer a call and hang up on it if it's blacklisted. What I don't understand is what happens if the incoming call is allowed. The modem/computer must be connected in parallel to my POTS line. That would mean the the phone and the modem would both ring, right? 1 - what prevents someone from picking up the phone before...
Windows 10 64-bit v. 3.7.4 The app remembers my display choices and column selections, as it should. It does not remember the scanned range which means that I am forced to re-enter it each time I run the app. If this is supposed to be a "feature" I think it should be reclassified as a bug.
