timeline pan feature using hotkey Alt + MMB up/down
Ah, now I (think I) understand. You'd like to be able to use the mouse wheel to use the horizontal scrolling as well? Is this correct? That actually should work, using Shift (using the Alt key was difficult, I remember, because when I made this the Alt key was default-mapped onto showing the Menu bar options highlights). Anyway, the use of Shift also doesn't work, so I'll look into it anyway :-)
Thanks for reporting this! I can't fix the CPU usage, the transitions are - I'm afraid - rather CPU hungry. However, the crash I can fix. So, thanks for reporting this. Problem was the previewing of a transition that is at time '0' in the timeline. Similarly, the preview of a transition at the end of the timeline had issues as well. Both of these will be solved in the next release.
I think I'm misunderstanding the question. You can zoom in/out (horizontally) via CTRL+Mouse wheel. You can pan horizontally via pressing and holding the right mouse button, then moving left/right. Do you mean a different type of panning? Or do you mean 'I prefer this to be done via a different mouse/key binding'?
Have you tried using the RIght mouse button already. Pressing that and then moving the mouse should allow timeline navigation.
