Hi Steve, I am used to Microsoft making all the "production users" their beta testers when Microsoft releases a new software. However in my eyes, the Windows 11 24H2 seems to have some serious showstoppers impacting various users. Of course, not everyone will experience the more serious bugs. One of the threads mentioned a new Windows 11 bootloader for 24H2. If true, this may be the issue for VeraCrypt and its bootloader not working properly with 24H2. The user in the thread post below has a new...
I am seeing many issues unrelated to VeraCrypt with Windows 11 24H2 release. It might be advisable to avoid Windows 11 24H2 for a few months. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p3tS_JmlJo https://www.techspot.com/news/105134-windows-11-24h2-causing-headaches-western-digital-ssd.html https://www.techradar.com/computing/windows/new-windows-11-24h2-fail-kills-the-internet-for-some-users https://www.pcworld.com/article/248...
See my post below where I include the developer's discovery that this was not a simple change to VeraCrypt and the need to avoid user's complaining or opening tickets that the decimal size VeraCrypt volumes (disk, partition or file container) created did not match their input values. https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/features/thread/fefca6baa7/#d2a5

I have not used VeraCrypt on Mac or Linux so I cannot advise the best action to take on Windows to be portable to Linux. Obviously using file containers is one solution. Windows 10 Home edition and Pro edition support ends Oct 14, 2025. Linux now supports NTFS starting with Linux 5.15 kernel. If you stay on Windows, I would encrypt the partition on the HDD that is the total size of the disk. You can perform in-place encryption for the HDD that has your data. Only perform the encryption when you can...
