I figured it out. I can change video display modes for a short period when clonezilla is booting if I choose something which doesnt exist it will let me select from a list which let me select a video mode which my monitor could show.

I can't see what I'm doing! This is what clonezilla usb boot looks like on my computer. I can move the selection, but I don't see what I'm doing.
