Note : You don't need to compile Jamulus package anymore, there is a debian package on github ( https://github.com/jamulussoftware/jamulus/releases look at the assets )

If you want to give it a try, you can create a custom iso from already installed and tweaked debian with Respin https://linuxrespin.org/. I did not yet test it but it seems some Linux distro have been created using it.

  • Laurent Schwartz Laurent Schwartz posted a comment on discussion Jamulus OS v2

One solution would be to create Jamulus OS on top of Debian but i notice that create an iso for Debian seems far more complex than on Ubuntu with Cubic and Debian lack some easy to use software manager for average users like Ubuntu ... Use of Librazik3 iso would be a good start : it has a lot of audio software already packaged and it's GPL. https://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-site-LZK/english.php

Hello Bernhard, Thanks for your interest in Jamulus OS. But ... The Jamulus OS advantage was that once the usb stick was created, it was helpful out of the box without any further steps. Create a script to be applied after usb stick creation with UbuntuStudio will add one step and will keep this simplicity out ... Further more, apply change to a usb stick is slow and take a lot more time than on hard drive .... So, this is not a desired solution except perhaps if change are few. Sorry ... Kind Regards,...

Hello Adalbert, I agree with you that if we could setup a multi-platform program (using python for example) that download the iso file, install it on USB stick and then adapt it to the end user need, this would work under the copyright. But i don't see how to do that ... I don't even know if it's possible. As you stated previously, update a USB stick can take a lot of time and it can alter the stick so the changes should be minimal ... Most of the changes should be done on hard drive and not on USB...

Hello, Because of copyright issues, Jamulus OS has recently change his product packaging and i think it is useless in its actual form. I'm so sorry for inconvenience but i 'm going to remove all downloadable files. There are a lot of Linux OS which have Jamulus out of the box now so the need for Jamulus OS is questionable. Well, i can create a little sized usb persistent stick with jamulus installation (4,1GiB) using virtualbox. And then use mkusb to create a clone on a other USB stick (even larger). I used all defaults option in mkusb routine to create the usb persistent stick image. This way, i do not modify ubuntu iso file but i will be able to share an image with Jamulus preinstalled. I'm going to make some further tests before providing this image to the community.

If you want to allow only a IP whitelist to access to your jamulus private server, you can do it with a firewall. A simple firewall for Jamulus OS/Ubuntu is ufw with a nice GUI named gufw. sudo apt install gufw Deny access to your computer and for each IP address (musician IPv4 addresses) add a rule to allow input on 22124/UDP.

You can try to create a custom iso with cubic starting from jamulus OS V2 (you will need Ubuntu 20.04 or jamulus OS v2 Install ). If you can't find how to setup the default language on a custom iso build with cubic please ask askubuntu.com for Ubuntu 20.04 it will work the same. And please report your documentation in this thread. I'm interested. BR, Laurent

It is possible that the fstab file is overwritten when using a USB persistent. It would work nicely on a regular install (hard drive). You might want to create a personal script that mount your drive using sudo. On a USB persistent live session, it will not require any sudo password with the default account. something like : Example: script.sh 1 2#!/bin/bash sudo mount /dev/sda1 /my-mount-point Then simply create an icon on your desktop that runs your script /path/to/script.sh

Not exactly you need to setup your USB stick with Jamulus OS on it as described in the wiki steps (a few steps) and then boot your computer on your USB Stick. In other words, you won't use Windows 10 anymore to start Jamulus server and Jamulus client if you use Jamulus OS. Jamulus OS is a Linux OS. Your sound card has to be compatible. The windows compatibility does not imply that your sound card is Linux compatible. BR, Laurent
