Additional information: I believe Intel's suggested changes may have been integrated into FreeBSD 13.2 and/or FreeBSD 14, so the changes could be pulled from there if it makes things any easier.

I am having the same error. This appears to be an issue with how the device is detected, as there are variants of the I225 (particularly the I225-IT) which - though functionally identical - do not need to have their PHY vendor checked against.
